Marketing Research Coordinator
Job Description
The research coordinator assists the associate research director in preparing presentation materials, completing research and strategy projects, providing analysis support to the media department, and working on marketing efforts. Position reports to the associate research director.
The research coordinator will become well-versed in a full breadth of research and analysis methodologies including primary research (quantitative and qualitative), secondary research, and competitive intelligence.
- Primary research can include: Developing web/mobile surveys including documenting objectives, implementing surveys, analyzing results and writing reports. Managing focus group logistics including coordinating facilities, moderator selection process, scheduling, materials and other set-up tasks. Attending focus groups, developing insights and effectively communicate via reports and presentations.
- Secondary research can include: Analyzing competitive advertising activity including advertising creative, websites, and reported media spending. Preparing interpretive charts and diagrams. Developing target analysis for client projects including demographic, psychographic and behavioral profiling. Generating market sizing and zip code analysis as needed.
Duties:
- Assists research director and provide input for research functionsCompile and interpret data and statistics. Conduct internet research, call vendors, gather information for project designs, mine industry websites, and use the information gathered to create spreadsheets and PowerPoint chartsAnswer telephone calls/faxes/emails from vendors, gather any info required, and refer them to the research director as neededMine industry websites, media, customer data, and secondary research databases to identify trends and marketing insightsAssist in project management -- planning, timeline creation and follow through, and budget verificationMaintain client files for all accounts. Handle paperwork and maintain accurate digital and hard copy files of all research materials including client correspondence, project specifications, research documents, data, vendor contracts/invoices, and forms/documents
- With the research director, build relationships with research suppliers via meetings with representatives, phone calls, emails and industry events. Research coordinator is expected to promote good ambassadorship to our industry colleagues, media, and suppliers
Required Skills
Applicant should have superior intellectual capacity, have quantitative prowess, a passion for uncovering and communicating marketing insights, and be very resourceful. The research coordinator should have a strong attention to detail, understanding of statistical principles, excellent writing skills, ability to manage multiple projects/deadlines, and a professional demeanor. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet research skills are required. Experience with SPSS or another statistical analysis programs is preferred. A bachelor’s degree from a top university is required. Majors in a quantitative field such as statistics, economics, finance, math or marketing research preferred. Be prepared to share writing and analysis examples.
