Job Description
The Media Manager is responsible for campaign management of media efforts. They finalize media buys, manage media schedules, manage material specifications, traffic digital materials, produce media reports, and reconcile budgets.
The Media Manager is an expert / top 10% of their field in digital media and must stay current with rapidly proliferating new media options. The Media Manager will become well-versed in a full breadth of media channels including traditional media (print, broadcast, out-of-home), digital media (banners, e-newsletters, video, mobile), direct response media (lists, email) and other non-traditional media (POS, events, sponsorships).
Intelligence, quantitative acumen and accuracy are important elements of success in this position. Knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint and a 3rd party Ad Server (such as DART, Atlas, Mediaplex or TruEffect) are required. The Media Manager should have a strong attention to detail, comfort with statistics, a professional demeanor and the ability to manage multiple projects.
The Media Manager reports to the Associate Media Director.
Duties
- Manage the implementation of a wide variety of client campaign reporting, testing, and measurement projects (including online display advertising campaigns, landing page optimization tests, website analytics).
- Create and maintain standard daily, weekly, and monthly, as well as integrate data from clients and/or third parties, including syndicated, customer and transaction data sources, into client reporting.
- Analyze weekly trends in campaign performance to determine the “why” and pulls research from Quantcast, Google AdPlanner, Nielsen AdRelevance, Nielsen Ad*Views, Google Analytics, and other media knowledge databases.
- Coordinates with production managers at client and agency partners to ensure creative material deadlines are met.
- Traffic ad tags to publishers and act as first line of issue escalation and manages resolution as they arise (pre, mid, and post-live) such as discrepancies between reporting systems and creative malfunctions.
- QA data from all sources, as well as output, for validity and reliability.
- Ownership of trafficking, media purchase authorizations, insertion orders and other media logistics.
The ideal applicant has 3-4 years of experience from an online media publisher, media technology firm, media agency or interactive advertising agency. Knowledge of Word, Excel, Powerpoint and 3rd party Ad Server are required. A bachelor’s degree and advanced knowledge of digital media metrics required.
